BYD surpasses LGES to become second-largest global maker of EV batteries

China-based BYD has surpassed South Korea-based LG Energy Solution (LGES) to become the globally second-largest maker of power batteries used in electric vehicles (EVs) and PHEVs (plug-in hybrid EVs), according to South Korea-based Kyung Hyang Daily News and IT Chosun.
