Price cuts bring BYD top-seller crown but impact its 2023 profits

China-based BYD saw its battery EV sales volume surpass Tesla in the fourth quarter of 2023, becoming the world's largest EV seller. BYD reduced its vehicle prices significantly at the end of last year to reach its annual sales target. The move also impacted the carmaker's profitability.
