You may have found that Facebook likes to keep itself updated with security fixes and new features. A couple of days ago, there was an update that went a little further than this. It was part of an update to a number of its core features, and they should be rolling out to everyone soon.

Here are some of the features that Facebook has changed in more detail.

    Profile Pictures

One of the most noticeable changes to your feed will be the profile pictures. Traditionally, they have been square, however, with this update, they have changed them to round.

Another social media platform, Twitter did the same thing in June, and it was met with a lot of negativity from Twitter users. In fact, it was just one of many things that were changed and not many people liked any of them.

    The Like Button

The like button has also seen an update, it has changed from a small icon that was filled in black to a larger version that is now transparent apart from the outline.

The larger button should help people like those posts a little easier, especially on their mobile devices, and the slightly new shape looks good.

    Comment and Share Buttons

Both of these buttons have received the same makeover as the like button. Even though they are all slightly bigger, they all still fit beneath your posts well and are not so close together that they will be pressed accidentally.

Along with these icons, the others such as the photo icon and the emoji face have also had a little update.

    Profile Page

Overall, the profile page hasn't changed a great deal. The icons have had the same treatment that the others have, and it seems the profile banner is slightly larger on mobile devices. Thankfully, you can still create Facebook covers using applications such as Adobe Spark.

    Comments Threads

The comments threads have had quite a significant change and one that should make it easier to follow conversations. Like other chat applications, the comments in the threads now have gray bubbles around them.

It makes the text stand out, and it also allows you to see are replying to another person. This was one area that was quite confusing before, so this addition good.

    Link Previews

Facebook has said that it has also made the link previews larger and easier to read. It has also changed the typography of the link preview so that it is more legible.

They have also made it slightly easier to return from link preview to your news feed which will be beneficial.

The number of changes in this update has made a lot of the screens easier to read and navigate which is a positive thing. Facebook says that it will continue to tweak the design over the coming weeks to make the news feed more conversational and easier to use. Let us wait and see what else the people at Facebook have in store.
